Taking that first step - changing focus

For a long time I've been dabbling with different crafts, thinking that I have to find that ONE THING, that craft that I want to specialise in. I made wire wrapped jewellery for 3 years, then began making mermaid tails but through it all I had this feeling that maybe I wanted to try this technique or try making that other thing instead.

Then I picked up a book called Be a Free Range Human by Marianne Cantwell and in it she described the myth that you have to choose one thing. Through reading the book and doing a few soul searching exercises I realised that my love of costuming is my real passion and that I didn't have to pick just one element of costuming. I could do it all!

My skills lie in problem solving, in taking a concept or idea and working out how to make it reality. My mind loves to solve problems - how will that fit together, how will I use this material, how I create this thing? My natural creativity lends itself to making bespoke designs and my passion for costuming means I can connect with people who loves this as much as I do.

I have found my joy and my path, and I cannot wait to take this journey and meet the exciting people who will join me along the way!
